Heidi Klum led the yellow charge about the red carpet, but Taraji P. Henson won the evening at the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Our fashion five from Sunday night:

HENSON

Her black custom Alexander Wang did her "Empire" character Cookie Lyon proud.

Eric Wilson, fashion news director for InStyle magazine, referred to as gown fantastic and said its "transparency over the skirt along with a keyhole cutout with tough chain straps sent me in the edge."

Designer Michael Costello also praised clothes, saying, "She looked beautiful, but I wasn't so sure concerning the chains. Other than that, it absolutely was spot on. The cut was just the thing for Taraji."

Matthew Marden, fashion director for Details magazine, called Henson "absolutely stunning," also choosing Sarah Paulson's off-the-shoulder custom Prabal Gurung in sparkling black and blue inside a tie for best-dressed.

KLUM

Her busy, asymmetrical Atelier Versace had some crying "fowl," Costello included.

It was soft yellow silk chiffon with ruffles as well as a loose, long sleeve on the one hand — plus a skinny strap about the other. There were petals, where there were sparkly Swarovski crystals for the sheer skirt.

"She looks like she was wearing Big Bird," said Costello, who appeared on Season 8 of Klum's "Project Runway." ''That was sort of sad."

Mindy Kaling, Taylor Schilling, Padma Lakshmi and Dascha Polanco also hopped aboard the yellow train.

KIERNAN SHIPKA

The "Mad Men" daughter has become a regular at New York Fashion Week and came in an embroidered yellow top and black wool cigarette pants, via Dior Haute Couture.

Some fashion insiders raved. Costello was unimpressed.

"I just don't get. I think it's fun to consider fashion risks, however it's the Emmys. You shouldn't make an appearance looking like you're wearing two different outfits. She's a, beautiful girl. She would have easily shown up in something different."

Wilson begs to differ. He referred to as the combination of the delicately embroidered, lavishly gilded top and also the skinny trousers a "refreshing accept young Hollywood."

JAIMIE ALEXANDER

The "Blindspot" actress was liquid and lovely in multicolored Armani Prive, her hair superslick and swept off her face. It sparkled in a very crosshatch pattern of red, blue and purple.

"That was my absolute fave," Costello said. "The color choice was definitely unexpected. She looked perfect."

Marden made Alexander a runner-up on his best-dressed list — "to the wow factor," he stated.

Alexander said she loved the high neck and long sleeves simply because hid "all the leftover tattoo residual stuff I have in my body right this moment," discussing the tats her character sports on NBC.

Our last spot is critic's choice.

Wilson praised Ellie Kemper's extravagantly striped Naeem Kahn sparkler. It "catches the lighting in all the right places, a work of recent art that's perfectly framed by her strict center-part hair," he was quoted saying.

Marden named Hugh Dancy in a very Ralph Lauren Black Label double-breasted tuxedo and Claire Danes in sparkling, purple Prada using a bit of heavy gold link about the sides as his best-dressed couple.

The tux, he explained, was "outstanding as well as the epitome of recent Hollywood glamour. They nailed it."

Wilson said Kerry Washington's metallic Marc Jacobs was obviously a "daring choice" that had been "extravagant, elegant, and endlessly appealing."

He added: "It's not really that she needed a suit of armor, but her chic version of chain mail is ready in working order."
